The real momentum behind the New Testament is the metamorphosis the religion underwent with the birth of Jesus Christ.  Once God set foot on this Earth and allowed himself to suffer and die as any other man, ancient customs of animal sacrifice were now unnecessary, as the ultimate sacrifice had already been given.  All aspects of Jesus's life are extraordinary.  Each of the beginning books in the New Testament detail the life of Jesus Christ from a different perspective, in an effort to give all Christians a well-rounded of picture of our Lord and Savior.

The Story Of Stephen - The First Christian Martyr - Acts 6-7:60

The name Stephen hold a place in both God and Christians' hearts.  Stephen was one of the first seven deacons to assist the apostles in the new Jerusalem church.  Stephen had both the honor and misfortune to be stoned to death as the first Christian.  Unknown to most people, Saul who later converted to Paul, helped take part in his murder by maintaining garments of those performing the stoning.  Stephen's last words were "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.  Do not hold this sin against them."  It's a very powerful story.
